Upgrading to Gizmo 3.1.0.77 on Nokia N770
I installed the upgrade for Gizmo Project version 3.1.0.77 on my Nokia n770 today. It didn’t go well. After installing the update, I couldn’t seem to send or recieve any calls. I tried with Grand Central, I tried with Gizmo Project directly with GizmoOut minutes. When I dialed a number, it would ring once and that was it. I couldn’t see that any of my contacts were online, even though they were. I appeared online in their contact list, but they couldn’t initiate calls to me either.
I found here that someone else had some issues as well. I followed their advice, completely uninstalling and reinstalling Gizmo Project. I still had the same issues. I didn’t have Xterm installed yet, so I went ahead and installed it so I could make sure the /usr/share/gizmo folder was gone as they suggested. It was gone. I reinstalled Gizmo Project again, and I still had the same problem.
I decided… when in doubt reboot, so I uninstalled Gizmo Project again and then rebooted the N770. Once it booted back up, I reinstalled it again. Problem solved. Now it works fine.
I hope this may help anyone with the same problem.
i had the same problem too. calls going out dropped after the first ring. but i fixed the problem by re-booting the N770 without re-installing the Gizmo Project. it works great now. thanks for the posting. without reading it, i might just keep trying until i went insane.
You know… I think rebooting was the key.
I later upgraded my neighbors N770 for them and they were having similar problems and I just rebooted and that seemed to take care of it. I did the reinstall because of that other post I read. Glad my post helped.
